New Lessons of KSHMR: Deconstructing Devotion & Creating Techno Rumbles

Creative Use of Vocal Chops Part 1

In this two part lesson, ALX B discusses how to turn real human vocals into samples and sound effects that can bring your song to life. With the use of stock effects like reverb and delay native to any DAW, vocal snippets can be cut and utilized for textural and melodic purposes that fill out the mix and give the song added bits of ear candy to capture the listener’s attention. ALX B goes over two specific styles of chopping: chopping for hooks and more hip hop styled chopping based on taking individual words and placing them in various parts of the song.
